  • LSV vs. Golf Cart: An LSV (Low Speed Vehicle) is a fully street-legal vehicle with the necessary licenses and compliance with regulations. It features standard safety equipment such as seatbelts, headlights, taillights, and turn signals. In contrast, a golf cart has limitations and cannot be driven on public roads like an LSV.

For the best experience, we recommend aligning your cart rental dates with your vacation rental property. Please note that we do not offer pick-up or drop-off at our office location.

Golf Cart Rental Operation

  • Driver Eligibility: To operate our LSV golf carts from Isle of Palms Golf Cart Rentals, all drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and complete our online rental agreement form. We strictly adhere to this policy without exceptions.

  • 24-Hour Access: Our LSV golf carts are street-legal vehicles, allowing you to enjoy them day and night without any restrictions.

  • Authorized Roads: Feel free to drive our LSV golf carts on all streets within Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. However, we recommend utilizing side streets whenever possible and using main roads (Palm Blvd, Jasper Blvd, Middle St) only when necessary. Please note that crossing the Isle of Palms Connector and Ben Sawyer Bridge is not permitted. Only renters staying in Wild Dunes can access the Wild Dunes gated community in a golf cart.

  • Island-to-Island Travel: Absolutely! Our street-legal LSV golf carts can cross the Breach Inlet Bridge, allowing you to conveniently travel between Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island.

  • Restricted Areas: For your safety and compliance, please refrain from driving our LSV golf carts on the beach, beach access paths, sidewalks, golf courses, or off-road locations. Additionally, crossing the Isle of Palms Connector or Ben Sawyer Bridge is not permitted.

  • Rain and Water: Light rain does not pose a problem for the cart, but driving through floodwaters can cause significant damage to the wiring and engine compartment. We advise against operating the cart in heavy rain or standing water whenever possible.

  • Parking Guidelines: Our golf carts and LSVs can be parked in any designated automobile parking space, including striped spaces in parking lots and designated off-street parking areas along Palm Blvd. There are specific areas with designated golf cart parking, such as beach parking at 9th Ocean Blvd, 25th Ave, 28th Ave, and 31st Ave, parking at IOP Marina, and restaurant parking at the corner of Ocean Blvd and JC Long Blvd. On Isle of Palms, street parking is only allowed on Palm Blvd, as other streets are reserved for resident parking. In Sullivan's Island, parking is permitted on one side of the street according to signage.

  • Responsible Driving: Drinking alcohol while operating the cart is strictly prohibited by our rental policy and is also illegal.

Charging the Golf Cart

  • Cart Power Source: While not all of our golf carts are electric, we do offer electric carts that require charging during your rental period.

  • Cart Charging Process: Each cart is equipped with a built-in charger for your convenience. Simply plug the cart into a standard 110v outlet to initiate the charging process. We recommend charging the cart overnight, as it takes approximately 12-14 hours to reach a full charge. Extension cords are provided if needed.

  • Charging Schedule: To ensure the cart is fully charged and ready for use each day, we advise charging it overnight. Electric golf carts typically require 12-14 hours to reach a full charge. Charging the cart for a short duration, such as an hour or two, will not be sufficient.

  • Range on a Full Charge: Most of our carts have a range of 20-25 miles on a single charge. However, please note that it is recommended not to drive the cart until the battery indicator reaches 0%. Charging is required once the battery indicator drops to approximately 30%. We discourage operating the cart with less than 50% battery life remaining.

  • Battery Limitations: No, our rental carts cannot be driven until the batteries are fully depleted. Operating the cart with less than 30% charge may lead to battery damage and render the cart inoperable. It is not advisable to drive the cart with less than 50% charge remaining.
